Hon'ble Mr. Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh

Mr. Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh born on 7th July, 1965. is the eldest son of Dr. Ram Gopal Singh and Dr.Shradha Singh. He belongs to a family associated with Judiciary. His Maternal Great Grandfather, Late Sri B.P. Sinha was the 6th Chief Justice of India. His Maternal Grandfather Hon'ble Late Sri Shambhu Prasad Singh was the former Acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court. One of his maternal uncle Hon'ble Sri Bisheshwar Prasad Singh, has been former Judge of the Supreme Court of India. His Maternal Uncle, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Shiva Kirti Singh, is a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court of India.

 

He passed B.A. Honours, and he obtained his L.L.B Degree from University of Delhi he was enrolled as an advocate in the year 1990 and practiced at Patna High Court from 1990 to 2000 and in Jharkhand High Court since, 2001 till his elevation as a Judge.

 

Appeared in Constitutional, civil, criminal, service, arbitration, labour and other matters in the High Court of which a number of cases have been reported in various law Journals.

 

Appeared in several important service matters before Cental Administrative Tribunal Represented Hon'ble the Chancellor, Jharkhand State University, before Jharkhand High Court in important matters relating to appointment of lecturers of Jharkhand reported in (2003)4 J.C.R. Page 1 (Jhr.)

 

Had appeared in the case of Mineral Area Development Authority Vrs. Steel Authority of India Ltd. Reported in (2011)4 SCC 450 before the Bench presided over by Hon'ble the Chief Justice of India wherein the matter relating to interpretation of True Nature of Royalty and the decisions rendered by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in State of West Bengal Vrs. Kesoram industries Ltd. Reported in (2004) 10 SCC 201 and the law laid down in the seven-Judge Bench decision in India Cement Ltd. Vrs. State of Tamil Nadu, reported in (1990) 1 SCC 12, has been referred to be placed before a large bench of nine-Judge on the enumerated, points of law.

 

Appeared in P.I.L. on eradication of Leprosy in Jharkhand, which led to significant improvement in prevalence of Leprosy in Jharkhand and also towards improvement of general health care facilities.

 

Represented Mineral Area Development Authority, Dhanbad as retained counsel.

 

Represented Sidhu Kanhu University, Dumka and other bodies.

 

Appointed as amicus curie in a number of cases by the Jharkhand High Court.

 

Member of Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority since, 2004 and having actively participated in legal awareness camp Lok adalat, attended several important seminars, conferences and workshops on various subjects.

 

Has the distinction to deliver papers and speeches at important conferences and workshops.

 

Has the distinction of preparation of status report on the subordinate judiciary in the Jharkhand published by Judicial Academy, Jharkhand in 2006.

 

Has been elevated as and Additional Judge of the Jharkhand High Court and taken oath of office on 24th January, 2012.
